Dear Grant,

I am most impressed that you were able to track me down.

Indeed, I have made my home in the Phoenix area for the last 25 years and was appointed by the King of Belgium as his Honorary Consul in 1991.  He has since been generous enough to give me a knighthood earlier this year.  Before embarking on the business aspects, I am extremely keen to know about Derek Montague.  As you know, he was the head of Rank City Wall in London and the Winssinger Company in Brussels represented Rank on all their real estate in the country of Belgium.  I worked with Derek for a number of years and knew of his love for Canada.  I understood that Derek had remarried and settled in Toronto where I was told he retired.

In 1995 we organized a ball to thank the American soldiers who had marched through Belgium and liberated the country.  Most of them fought the Battle of the Bulge.  We were able to track 50 veterans and invite our Belgian Prime Minister along with our Consul General from Los Angeles who was my friend.  We gave them a souvenir decoration and treated them to quite a party.

I have created a real estate investment company based here in Phoenix.  We own an NAI affiliated brokerage house and a property management company.  My son Frederic, who was a fund manager in London, has moved to Phoenix and joined us in our real estate activity.  Our principal activity is carried out under the name RW Partners, LLC where we acquire and syndicate opportunistic real estate based investments.  We have a hard money loan program.  We finance home builders as their land bankers.  We acquire buildings that need repositioning.  In the coming months we are hoping to raise a new hedge fund with a capital of $100,000,000 to add non-performing loans to our portfolio of targets.  We have created average returns to our investors well north of 20% annually and we hope that with the creation of our new fund we can do bigger deals faster.

I was intrigued by your brochure and I would love to possibly visit with you on the phone and hopefully find a place where our paths will cross.  I serve as an independent director to the WP Carey Company listed on the NY Stock Exchange and therefore travel to NY often.  My mother, now 89 years old, expects me to visit her regularly so I go back to Belgium 3-4 times a year.  Surely we can find a place and time to once again get together.
