My father Keir George MacDonald fought from ages 18 to 22 on D-Day at Normandy through the Battle of the Scheldt in Belgium & Holland to Germany. My grandfather Sgt. Major Daniel Aeneas MacDonald fought at Vimy Ridge & great-uncle Billy MacDonald was killed in action at Vimy.
SURE PROUD OF MY DAD
I'M SURE PROUD OF MY DAD!
JUST TO BE THE SON OF SOMEONE
WHO HAS FOUGHT IN WORLD WAR TWO AND WON ....
HE WENT OFF TO WAR IN 1941
HE FOUGHT FOR FOUR YEARS ....
NEAR DEATH & WITH FEARS!
WITH HIS FELLOW INFANTRY THEY SET OUT FROM
AT EIGHTEEN ... A PRINCE EDWARD ISLANDER.
AS THE GERMANS TURNED HIS FELLOW SOLDIERS INTO FODDER.
ON D-DAY AT
SHRAPNEL, BOMBS & BULLETS DID FLY
TO DEFEND THE WORLD FOR YOU & I.
TO ME HE IS A TRUE HERO & I'D JUST LIKE HIM TO KNOW
A HERO SO YOUNG & SO BRAVE
WITH SO MANY OTHERS IN THEIR GRAVE!
TO KNOW HIM AS A MAN IS A
LOT
BUT TO LOVE HIM AS MY FATHER
IS THE GREATEST PRIDE I'VE GOT.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ... as Her Highness Princess Royal ... was a heroine during the Battle of Britain & remained in London to tend to the dead & dying instead of travelling to Canada for safety.

Dear Grant,
In 1995 we organized a ball to thank the American soldiers who had
marched through Belgium and liberated the country. Most of them
fought the Battle of the Bulge. We were able to track 50 veterans
and invite our Belgian Prime Minister along with our Consul General from
Los Angeles who was my friend. We gave them a souvenir decoration
and treated them to quite a party.
Surely we can find a place and time to once again get together
